Studio Partner
Turn your game into
a data revenue stream.

Layer Labs is a gameplay data agency. We work directly with AI and world model labs to source the structured, high-quality gameplay data they need — and with studios like yours to turn that data into a new revenue stream.

Who we are

We speak game development and model data requirements — fluently.

Layer Labs is led by game developers and scientists with backgrounds spanning PlayStation, Xbox, and Unity. That background — combined with active relationships across studio partners and AI labs — lets us move quickly and structure deals that work for both sides.

We've done the work of understanding what labs want, how they evaluate data, and how to package datasets. As game developers, we understand and will protect the IP studios have worked hard to build.

We're not a data broker or a marketplace. We're an agency that holds the relationships and technical understanding to get deals structured and closed — fast.

The opportunity

Your game is already generating data that AI labs are paying for.

Physical and world model labs are actively sourcing structured gameplay footage to train AI and robotics simulation models. This is additional revenue from an asset you already have — and standards are being set right now.

Revenue

New income from existing IP

Income tied to deal complexity and volume. Paid out on deal close.

Cost

No upfront fees

We work on a revenue share basis. No retainer before a deal closes.

Timing

The window is open now

Demand from newly funded labs is significant — but we expect consolidation as larger platforms enter.

Indie advantage

Indie studios move fastest

Independent developers typically own their data outright, without the legal complexity larger studios face.

Ideal game profile

What makes a title a strong fit

Strong fit

3D world-immersive environments

Games with rich, spatially coherent 3D worlds generate the depth, normal, and segmentation data world model labs actually need.

Strong fit

Third-person traversal & physical simulation

Movement, physics, and environment interaction maps directly onto what robotics and autonomous systems labs are training for.

Strong fit

Multiplayer & NPC-rich environments

Multi-agent interaction data is among the highest-demand dataset types for world model training right now.

Strong fit

Vehicle or locomotion systems

Driving games, flight simulators, and character-action titles produce telemetry data that maps onto AV and humanoid robotics training needs.

Not a fit

2D games & top-down scrollers

These don't produce the spatial signals — depth, normals, 3D motion vectors — that world model and robotics labs are sourcing.

Not a fit

Card games & abstract titles

Card and board game mechanics don't generate the environmental or physical interaction data lab buyers are evaluating.

How we work together

From first conversation to deal close.

Every partnership follows the same structured process — designed to protect both parties and move quickly from qualification to revenue.

All studio-specific details, lab contacts, and deal terms are kept strictly confidential under a mutual NDA before anything is shared in either direction.

What you provide
  • Build access for instrumentation
  • Sign-off on the licensing agreement
  • Ongoing build access for new capture runs
What Layer Labs provides
  • Capture pipeline engineering
  • Dataset packaging and annotation
  • Sales, licensing, and delivery to world model labs
  • Revenue share on every dataset sold
01

Mutual NDA

We sign a mutual NDA before any lab contacts, deal terms, or studio-specific details are shared. Confidentiality in both directions, from day one.

02

Studio qualification

We confirm your title matches the profile and align on timelines. If you're in conversation with us, we believe your data has value.

03

Sample capture

You provide an initial sample of replay data. If you already capture replay or telemetry, we work with your existing format wherever possible.

04

Data processing

Our team structures and formats the sample to present to labs. You are not responsible for annotation or formatting.

05

Lab review

We share the sample with relevant labs and gather feedback on fit and interest. You stay behind the NDA until a deal is in motion.

06

Deal & delivery

If a lab moves forward, we scope, capture, and deliver the full dataset — handling storage and transfer. Revenue share paid on close.

Data collection & privacy

No player PII. No raw session data. Clean from capture.

Replay-based capture only

All capture is handled via our internal replay process. We do not use real player sessions or collect any player personally identifiable information.

Works with your existing systems

If you already have a replay or telemetry system, we work with your existing export format wherever possible — no redundant infrastructure.

Drop-in SDK if needed

If you don't have capture infrastructure, our Unity and Unreal SDK integrates as a drop-in layer with direct support from our engineering team.

Lab-ready delivery

All footage is quality-filtered and structured to lab specifications. You are not responsible for annotation or formatting — we handle that end to end.

Think your title is a fit? Let's talk.

The next step is a short call to confirm your title matches the profile and talk through timelines. From there, we move to a mutual NDA and a formal term sheet.

This page is for discussion purposes only and does not constitute a binding offer or contract. Specific deal terms are set out in a separate Term Sheet and definitive agreement.
